Partnerships with Families

All center staff members are committed to making you, your child and your family feel welcome, supported and part of the center community. We encourage you to think of us as a key partner in your child's growth and development, and we look forward to building a robust and rewarding relationship with you and your family.

Family Events

Throughout the year, we host family events so that we can get to know each other better. For example, families are invited to:

  • Conferences - Individual parent-teacher conferences are scheduled at least two times a year and at any other time a parent or teacher desires. Teachers are available between 1:30 and 3:00 pm for telephone conferences.
  • Fall Classroom Meetings - In the first month of the school year, each classroom holds a parent meet & greet in the late afternoon to discuss the unique experience of each classroom. This is a time when teachers can explain the curriculum, classroom expectations, upcoming plans, and answer your questions.
  • Family Meals - Near the beginning of the school year, Homewood ELC holds a Fall Family Potluck Dinner at the end of the school day. You are invited to bring a dish to share and eat in your child's classroom. It is a relaxed and social time for you to get to know other parents and for teachers to informally spend time with families in their classrooms.
  • In the late spring or early summer, Homewood ELC hosts an International Picnic. You are invited to bring a dish to share that represents your cultural heritage. Depending on the weather, we may share the meal outside as a picnic or eat in the children's classrooms.

Individual classrooms will schedule their own parent gathering times. Your child's teacher will let you know in advance when they will occur.
